1/ The way we work
We're the team you call when the software you have doesn't fit the business you run.
Most software problems aren't technology problems. They're fit problems — a generic tool forcing your team into someone else's workflow, spreadsheets quietly holding your business together, hours lost to manual work nobody signed up for.
So before we design anything, we sit down with you and learn your process the way your team lives it: where the friction is, what gets worked around, what "a good day" looks like. Then we prototype, test with you, refine, and deliver software that fits — instead of software you have to fit into.
Our story
Where it started
CEDAR FOREST SOFTWARE started with a simple observation: most businesses don't suffer from a lack of software. They suffer from software built for someone else. Generic tools with hundreds of features — three of which you need, dozens of which get in the way. Workflows held together by spreadsheets, phone calls, and the memory of one very patient person.
How we think about it
We believe the fix isn't more features. It's better understanding. Every project we take on starts the same way: we learn your problem from your side of the desk. What does your team do first thing in the morning? Where do things get retyped, double-checked, worked around? What would you never want to lose from the way you work today?

Only when we can describe your problem as well as you can do we start designing the solution.

What we believe
Your workflow isn't wrong — your tools are.
If your team invented a workaround, that's not a bad habit. It's a requirement nobody wrote down. We go looking for those.
Show early, show often.
You'll click through a prototype before we build, and see working software every step after. No black boxes, no big reveal at the end.
Less, but right.
We'd rather ship the ten features you'll use daily than fifty you'll have to ignore. Software should reduce work, not create a new kind of it.
Delivery is the middle, not the end.
Real use teaches things no planning session can. We stay close after launch to act on what we all learn.
2/ How
How we work with you
Four steps. No black boxes, no guessing where things stand.
01
Tell us your situation
A conversation, not a sales pitch. You describe the problem in your own words; we listen and ask questions.
02
Discovery
We map your current process — with the people who actually live it. We find where time is lost, where errors creep in, and what already works well enough to leave alone.
03
Prototype & design
You get a clickable prototype of the solution. We walk through it together, your team pokes holes in it, and we revise until it feels right in your hands.
04
Build in the open
Development in short cycles with regular demos. Priorities can shift as we learn — that's a feature of the process, not a failure of the plan.
05
Deliver, train, refine
We launch, onboard your team, and stay available. The best version of your software is usually version 1.2 — the one shaped by real daily use.
